- Abraham Veihoeven published in Anvers the "Nieuwe Tijdinge", desginated as the first European newspaper.

1609 - The first hebdomadals publication was in Strasbourg and Augsbourg.  
1631 (30th May)- First edition of the "La Gazette de France" by Théophraste Renaudot - This gazette was the oficial government one.  
1638 - Stephan Day created (Cambridge Massachusetts) the first American press workshop.  
1640 - Richelieu created in Louvre the Royal Press.  
1665 (January)- The first number of the "Journal des Sçavans" was published by Denis de Sallo (Paris Parliament Counselor), with Colbert's patronage. It was the most oldest literary newspape.
1672 - Donneau de Visé founded the hebdomadal "Mercure Galant".  
1688 - Cornelius Benghen published Inconabula Typographie, considered the first inconabulum's catalogue.  
1690 - Benjamin Harris published in Boston the first American newspaper: the Public Occurrences.

1695 - É abolido, na Grã-Bretanha, o "Licensing Act", deixando de ser necessária a autorização prévia para imprimir.
